 Ready to take the next step? Genentech is currently hiring for Principal Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry in South San Francisco, CA. In-person interviews for this position will be held immediately following the info session. The Opportunity The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and synthesizing analogs for molecular targets by applying innovative structure- and computation-driven and property-based design principles in a multi-disciplinary, team-based culture. In addition to close collaboration with other chemists, the candidate will engage with various functions such as Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, Structural Biology, Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology, Machine Learning, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Safety and disease area Biology. 

Who You Are A PhD with 0-6 years of post-PhD experience, or equivalent and relevant experience in chemical research. Expertise in modern synthetic organic chemistry is required as demonstrated by a track record of at least one first authored publication(s). Ability to conduct multi-step syntheses and retrosynthetic analysis of complex molecules. 

Preferred You will demonstrate extensive experience and record of accomplishment in one or more of the following areas: medicinal chemistry, methodology/catalysis, total synthesis, chemical biology and physical organic chemistry. You will convey strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively in teams.
