Extraordinary Science

The Department of Chemistry is consistently recognized among the best chemistry programs in the U.S. by the U.S. News & World Report for its outstanding research, scholarship, and education in the chemical sciences. This is in no small part due to the support from our loyal alumni, parents, and friends who share a vision for improving the world today and for future generations. You can join them by making a gift of any size. Explore the options below and consider “What are you for?”

For Humanity Campaign

Yale University’s capital campaign is a comprehensive campaign. In particular, it focuses on five specific areas within sciences and engineering. Chemistry plays an integral part in Yale’s science priorities, from planetary solutions and quantum science to inflammation and data science. Over half of our faculty are actively researching solutions to the most pressing problems of our time in these areas.

Capital Gifts

for the bigger picture

What sets Yale Chemistry apart from other chemistry departments is our ability to attract the very best faculty and students, and provide them with the resources to thrive. Capital gifts make this possible. They provide a permanent, secure annual income stream for designated programs. These gifts are invested by the university, and the income from the gift is directed toward an enduring purpose by the donor. Only the income from the principal is expended so the gift continues in perpetuity. Many people choose to make this generous gift to create a legacy in honor of a loved one.

We are happy to help you create a gift that aligns with your philanthropic interests. Some popular choices include:

  • graduate student fellowships and scholarships
  • postdoctoral fellowships
  • professorships
  • targeted research projects
  • facilities
