Diversity is a core value that needs to guide departmental decisions and policies. We are dedicated to achieving a departmental community that:

• Fosters a working and learning environment that shows respect for all individuals regardless of their background, career stage, or status.
• Educates and trains all members of our department about how implicit and explicit biases affect decision-making and recognizes and addresses biased behavior.
• Removes barriers to the recruitment, retention, and advancement of talented students, faculty, and staff from historically underrepresented populations.
• Encourages open dialogue and builds a community of support amongst all students, staff, and faculty, where everyone can feel appreciated and valued for their unique experiences and contributions.

We come together throughout the year in these annual events: Visiting Days, Yale Chemistry Symposium, Holiday party, Recognition Assembly, department picnic, Chemists & Coffee, Halloween party, and other social gatherings.
