Assistant Professor, Biophysical or Physical Chemistry

Overview

The Department of Chemistry, Yale University, New Haven, CT, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to commence as early as July 1, 2027. We seek creative teacher-scholars to teach inspiring courses and develop outstanding research programs in biophysical or physical chemistry, broadly defined. 

Assistant Professor, Chemical Biology

Overview

The Institute of Biomolecular Design & Discovery (IBDD), in partnership with the Department of Chemistry, Yale University, New Haven, CT, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank to commence as early as July 1, 2027. The IBDD is a chemical biology-focused research institute, one of seven multidisciplinary research institutes at Yale University’s West Campus. Institute faculty hold a primary appointment in a life science, physical science, or engineering department. 

Currently, we seek to identify candidates whose research interests and accomplishments align with the Institute and the Chemistry Department. We seek creative teacher-scholars to teach courses and develop outstanding research programs in chemical biology, broadly defined.

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Chemistry related to Energy Sciences 

Overview

The Energy Sciences Institute (ESI), in partnership with the Department of Chemistry, Yale University, New Haven, CT, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level rank to commence as early as July 1, 2027. The ESI focuses on performing fundamental research that is connected to solving problems connected to the energy sector and is one of seven multidisciplinary research institutes at Yale University’s West Campus. Institute faculty hold a primary appointment in a physical science or engineering department.

Currently, we seek to identify candidates whose research interests and accomplishments align with the Institute and the Chemistry Department. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and an outstanding record of research that demonstrates originality in addressing significant questions in the study of energy broadly defined. Applicants conducting research in materials chemistry with applications related to the conversion of solar energy into storable chemical energy, as well as those with interest in the development of transitional technologies, are especially encouraged to apply.  Candidates will need to demonstrate that they can teach undergraduate and graduate courses in chemistry.
