Title: Transition Metal-Catalyzed N–H Functionalization for the Synthesis of Nitrogen Heterocycles
This thesis seminar will highlight the use of N–H insertion to form various nitrogen heterocycles. A Cp*Rh(III)-catalyzed three-component synthesis of piperazinones was achieved with a new mode of reactivity: imine-directed N–H functionalization. A synthetic sequence to produce diverse monodehydro-diketopiperazines was enabled with amine-directed N–H functionalization. Current work on Cu(I)-catalyzed N–H insertion for the three-component synthesis of piperazines will also be discussed.
