In honor of his contributions to organic chemistry, Scott J. Miller was inducted to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in May following his election in 2020. Miller pioneered the discovery and development of new catalysts for complex molecular synthesis and derivation in chemical syntheses.

NAS membership is a widely accepted mark of excellence in science and is considered one of the highest honors that a scientist can receive. Members are elected to the NAS in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.

Watch Miller sign the “Registry of Membership” at minute 22:10 of the presentation ceremony, and read the YaleNews’ election announcement from April 2020.
