Jacob Spies Awarded Arnold O. Beckman Postdoctoral Fellowship

Recent graduate Jacob Spies ’22 Ph.D. has been awarded the prestigious and highly competitive Arnold O. Beckman Postdoctoral Fellowship for research he will be carrying out in the Zuerch Lab at the University of California, Berkeley.

The Arnold & Mabel Beckman Foundation awards fellowships to individuals who underscore the Foundation’s mission of supporting basic research in the chemical sciences and instrumentation. The Foundation will provide Spies with salary and research support funding for the next three years.

Research in the Zuerch Lab – an ultrafast materials laboratory – focuses on performing cutting-edge spectroscopy experiments focusing on condensed-phase quantum dynamics using state-of-the-art laser sources ranging from THz to the soft X-ray range.
