Title: Visible-Light Mediated, Diastereoselective Epimerization of Endocyclic, Exocyclic and Acyclic Amines

This thesis seminar highlights the use of visible-light mediated, diastereoselective epimerization. The diastereoselective epimerization of morpholines and piperazines allowed access to the more stable diastereomer from the more accessible, but less stable stereoisomer. Mechanistic studies such as luminescence quenching, quantum yield, isotope labeling experiments and equilibrium studies were also performed. This work was expanded to include the diastereoselective epimerization of exocyclic amines, which provided the more stable diastereomer. Current work on the epimerization of acyclic amines will also be discussed.
