The Department of Chemistry is pleased to welcome Greg Brooks as academic and administrative services manager, effective September 1, 2026. In his role, Greg oversees the day-to-day administrative operations of faculty and academic affairs in support of the department’s overall research and teaching mission.

As the manager of academic and administrative services, Greg, who succeeds Lisa Hines, oversees an administrative team that supports daily operations for undergraduate and graduate programs and faculty and academic appointments. This work focuses on coordinating administrative systems and timelines that keep academic programs, faculty support, and departmental operations running smoothly in compliance with policies.

Greg’s approach to work is continuity-first and team-centered. “I come into this position succeeding Lisa, who has spent nine years cultivating an amazing team and high-functioning systems. My goals are less about fixing anything and more about carrying her work forward so that she can go do great things further up the chain of command,” said Greg.

“Having spent most of my career in the manufacturing world, I’m looking forward to the change in environment. I’ve got a lot to learn as this is my first foray into the world of academia, but I’m blessed to be starting it with such an amazing team.”

“It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to say, ‘I work at Yale University.’”

Before joining the Department of Chemistry, Greg owned two companies: a freight auditing and consulting company and a freight brokerage, where he helped small- to medium-sized companies manage their shipping and transportation needs and increase margins by lowering logistics costs.

Greg earned his B.S. degree in finance and business administration from Central Connecticut State University. He brings experience in leadership, customer service, logistical planning, and budgeting.

When he’s not working, he enjoys taking cruise vacations with his wife. He also likes to play Texas hold ’em poker with a league he’s organized for the past 15 years.

Please join us in welcoming Greg to the department. You can reach him via email and find him in room 251 of the Sterling Chemistry Laboratory.
